Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 May 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how Lucy Kant ("we", "us", "our") — author and operator of lucykant.com (the "Site") — collects, uses and protects information about you when you visit the Site, read the Journal, request the newsletter or contact us.

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR, Lucy Kant is the data controller. You can reach us at support@lucykant.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to operate the Site:

  • Information you provide to us — your email address (and, optionally, your first name) when you subscribe to the Lucy Kant newsletter, and any content you include in messages you send us at support@lucykant.com.
  • Technical information collected automatically — IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages visited, and approximate location, gathered through standard server logs and privacy-friendly analytics.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 5 below.

We do not knowingly collect special categories of personal data (such as health data) unless you voluntarily share them with us by email. We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train AI models.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Site, the Journal and the book companion materials.
  • Send the newsletter you requested — typically one or two emails per month with new essays, book updates and reader resources — and reply to your messages.
  • Understand, in aggregate, how readers use the Site so we can improve our writing and resources.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights of our readers.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that produces legal effects. The newsletter and the Site's content are editorial and educational; they are not medical advice (see our medical disclaimer).

4. Newsletter

When you subscribe to the Lucy Kant newsletter, we store your email address (and your first name, if you provide one) in our database for the sole purpose of sending you the emails you requested.

  • Frequency: typically one or two emails per month. Occasional additional emails for new book releases or major announcements.
  • Content: new essays from the Journal, book updates, reader resources, and the occasional curated link. Topics relate to GLP-1 medications, nutrition, longevity and women's wellness.
  • Affiliate links: some emails may include affiliate links (for example to Amazon) — see Section 8 of our Terms of Service. We do not sell sponsored placements.
  • Unsubscribe: every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also write to support@lucykant.com at any time and we will remove your address promptly.
  • Legal basis: your explicit consent, given when you subscribe (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

We do not share newsletter subscriber lists with third parties for their own marketing, and we never sell email addresses.

6. Cookies and tracking

The Site uses only the cookies and storage strictly necessary to load pages and to remember basic preferences. Where we use analytics, we choose privacy-friendly tools that do not build cross-site advertising profiles. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time; some parts of the Site may not function correctly without them.

7. Sharing with third parties

We share information only with carefully selected service providers, including:

  • Hosting and content delivery providers that serve the Site.
  • Email and newsletter providers that deliver messages you have requested.
  • Analytics providers that help us understand aggregate traffic.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

These providers act as data processors under appropriate contractual safeguards and may only use your data on our instructions.

8. Data retention

We keep your information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above: newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe; email correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal obligations; server logs for a short rolling window for security and debugging.

9. International data transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data ('right to be forgotten').
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, write to support@lucykant.com.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational or regulatory reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top will always show the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.

14. Contact

For any question about this Privacy Policy or about how we handle your data, please email support@lucykant.com.
